Pow-dr App Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy Effective Date: 10 March 2026       

These Terms are an agreement between you and POW-DR TECHNOLOGIES LTD, a Private limited Company incorporated by Companies House, UK at 20-22 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU, UK (“POW-DR”). When these Terms refer to “our”, “us” or “we”, they refer to POW-DR. 

POW-DR has developed the pow-dr application (“the pow-dr app”).  The pow-dr app enables its users to configure and operate smart plugs and switches that connect via the participants’ home WIFI connection to the internet.  The pow-dr app allows remote switching-off of connected electrical devices as well as the measurement of those devices’ power consumption.  It also allows users to override remote switch-offs. 

POW-DR TECHNOLOGIES LTD, its affiliates and subsidiaries (“we”, “us”, “our”, “POW-DR”) are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Statement (“Statement”) describes our practices in connection with information privacy on personal data we process through your individual use of the following services, products, and related mobile applications (collectively, the “Products”) including the pow-dr app developed by POW-DR TECHNOLOGIES LTD. 

In this Privacy Notice, “Personal Data” means information that can be used to identify an individual, either from that information alone, or from that information and other information we have access to about that individual. “Smart Devices” refers to those nonstandard computing devices produced or manufactured by hardware manufacturers, with human-machine interface and the ability to transmit data that connect wirelessly to a network, including: smart home appliances, smart wearable devices, etc. “Apps” refers to those mobile applications developed by POW-DR that provide end users remote control to Smart Devices and the ability to connect to the POW-DR Web Platform.                      

In order to provide our services to you, we will ask you to provide the necessary data that is required to provide those services. If you do not provide this data, we may not be able to provide you with our products or services. 

1. Data We Collect

Account info: mobile number, registration details. During your interaction with our Products, we may further collect and integrate your nickname, profile picture, country code, language preference, or time zone information into your account.
Device data: energy usage, device connection info, device identifiers (such as device id, online status, activation time, upgrade information).
Location data: approximate location, used during device setup and pairing.
User content: photos uploaded during device registration.
Usage analytics: app interactions, feature usage, push notification tokens.
Feedback: When using feedback and suggestion features in our Products, we will collect your email address, mobile phone number, and your feedback content to address your problems and solve device failures on a timely basis.

2. How We Use Your Data

We process your data on the basis of contractual necessity (to provide the service you signed up for) and legitimate interest (to improve our services). Specifically, we may use your data to:

Provide and maintain the app services, including device pairing and energy monitoring.
Potentially calculate and distribute rewards based on your energy usage.
Share anonymized data with utilities or researchers to conduct research and provide insight.
Send push notifications about updates, events, or rewards.
Send marketing communication and promotional materials where you have consented.
Improve app functionality and user experience.
Legal compliance: We may process your personal data as we believe to be necessary or appropriate: (a) to comply with applicable laws and regulations; (b) to comply with legal process; (c) to respond to requests from public and government authorities (d) to enforce our terms and conditions; (e) to protect our operations, business and systems; (f) to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, and/or that of other users, including you; and (g) to allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share your data with the following categories of third parties:Infrastructure providers:

AWS (cloud hosting, storage, messaging).
IoT platforms: Tuya (device pairing and control) 
Analytics and linking: Branch.io (deep links), Firebase (analytics and push notifications).
Programme partners: utility companies or research partners, who receive data in anonymised form.
Third-party service providers (e.g., AWS, Branch.io, program-owner platforms).
Utilities or research partners, in anonymized form.

4. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. We protect your data using industry-standard technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, secure token-based authentication, and access controls on all infrastructure.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 working days, except where retention is required by law.



5.1 Account Deletion and Data Erasure

Upon a valid request to delete your account, we will initiate a process to permanently remove your Personal Data from our active production systems within 30 days. This includes your name, contact details, precise location data, and any account credentials.

5.2 Retention of De-identified Research Data

As part of our commitment to energy research, we may retain certain technical data captured from IoT devices (such as power consumption patterns and appliance usage metadata). To protect your privacy, this data will be strictly anonymized before retention. This means:
Irreversible Detachment: All direct identifiers (e.g., User ID, Account Email, Device Serial Numbers) are permanently stripped.
Aggregation/Generalization: Location data is generalized (e.g., converted from a specific address to a broad postal district or region) to prevent "re-identification."
Research Use Only: This de-identified data is used solely for statistical analysis, historical trends, and the improvement of energy efficiency models.
Note to Users: Because this data is fully anonymized and no longer linked to an identifiable individual, it cannot be retrieved, modified, or deleted once the anonymization process is complete.

5.3 How to Request Account Deletion

You may initiate a request to delete your account and all associated personal data at any time. We provide two primary methods for this:
In-App: Navigate to [Home Menu > Delete Account] within the Pow-dr app.
Web Resource: If you no longer have the app installed, you can submit a request via our dedicated portal at: https://admin.pow-dr.io/delete-account

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data. Contact support@pow-dr.ioto exercise your rights.

7. Children

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@pow-dr.io and we will delete it promptly.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

The app uses secure on-device storage to maintain your authentication session and preferences. We do not use browser cookies.

9. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
